
The National Popular Army (ANP) foiled on Friday at the area of Al Rakine near Djanet, an attempt to smuggle fuel and arrested 10 people, a statement from the Ministry of National Defense said on Saturday.
"Members of the forces of the National Popular Army under from the operational area of Djanet/4th military region, succeeded through an ambush on October 4, 2014, at 07h30m in the Al Rakine (near Djanet) to thwart a smuggling attempt," the same source said.
The statement said the operation led to the seizure of 1040 liters of fuel, two (02) 4x4 vehicle type. In addition, ten (10) people, including five (05) Algerian and five (05) Nigerian were arrested.
