
The 84th session of the Arab League Economic and Social Council, held in Cairo, Thursday, at the ministerial level with the participation of ministers of finance and economy in the Arab countries in the presence of Minister of Finance and National Economy Badr al-Din Mahmoud
The meeting discussed the developments of the joint Arab work and the socio-economic file to be presented before the Arab summit scheduled to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh next March
The Finance Minister Badr al-Din Mahmoud told (SUNA) that the meeting discussed the implementation of the President's initiative on Arab food security and the need for continued support of the initiative, pointing out that the Arab League Secretary General Dr. Nabil el-Arabi has stressed the need for focusing on the initiative, adding that Sudan is capable of doing so and have a complete solution to the issue of Arab food security .
The Minister Mahmoud said that the meeting touched on the decisions of the previous Arab summits on supporting Sudan in the field of development and peace, and ending the economic blockade on it especially in the fields of aviation and banking transactions, beside the exemption of Sudan's debt and claiming the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in a joint letter in this connection .
