Trade show Arabplast 2013 gains importance with the GCC poised to become the world's top producer of petrochemicals and plastic products. The four-day 11th Arab International Plastics and Rubber Industry Exhibition and Conference opens January 7 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, UAE. The annual growth of plastics industry in the GCC is 20%. GCC will soon be the world's largest source of polyethylene and polypropylene. Ethylene's annual production rate has doubled from 15 million tonnes in 2007 to 30 mtpa in 2011. Polyethylene production capacity in the GCC is expected to increase from 10.7 mtpa in 2009 to 21.5 mtpa by the year 2015, according to statistics. The production of polypropylene is also expected to increase from 4.8 mtpa in 2009 to 9.5 mtpa by 2015, almost double the volume. Compelling industry statistics make Arabplast a key forum for manufacturers, decision-makers and experts. The expo will see exhibitors from chemicals and plastics, machinery, technology, post processing machinery, services and auxiliaries.
