
Customs authorities of Alexandria port foiled an attempt to smuggle amounts of high-explosive chemicals inside a container ship coming from Italy.
An official source said that nine cartons weighing 0,5 ton of various chemicals were found in unidentified packages inside the container Imported for an acrylic industry company in Borg El Arab.
Samples were taken and analyzed by a factor of the department of chemistry, which reported that some items included high-explosive chemicals.
The shipment was seized and the prosecution was notified.
Precautionary measures at the highest level are being taken at the Alexandria Port after previous explosive materials were found.
