Minister of Civil Aviation Hossam Kamal said on Tuesday that the aviation sector brings revenues worth two billion dollars to Egypt.
The figure represents 1.2 percent of Egypt's gross domestic product, Kamal said in an address to the 25th General Assembly of the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), which kicked off earlier in the day.
The aviation sector provides also 197,000 job opportunities for youths in Egypt, he added.
Kamal called for overcoming obstacles facing the aviation sector in Egypt and all African countries after terrorism hit different parts of the world.
He also expressed Egypt's readiness to collaborate and exchange expertise with all African countries in the field of airport safety and security.
