
Under the patronage of the Minister of Industry and Commerce Dr. Hassan Abdulla Fakhro, the Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society (BBS) organised, in collaboration with the UNIDO, a workshop titled "Women Entrepreneurship and Innovation".
Dr. Fakhro delivered a speech hailing the Bahraini women's status, which is now considered an important benchmark and a cornerstone of the reform project led by His Majesty the King. He pointed out that the National Action Charter and the 2002 constitution 2002 bolstered women's rights, pointing out the importance of the constitutional amendments which confirmed "the principle of equality among all citizens without any discrimination as to their right and duties".
The establishment of the Supreme Council for women, which is headed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa. Wife of His Majesty the King, aims at empowering Bahraini women and advocating their participation and integration into the national development process through the national strategy.
He added that he announcement of the first program of its kind for political empowerment in the Arab world in 2006, aims to support and empower Bahraini women through providing motivational training programs. The minister pointed ministry’s statistics, saying that the number of individual institutions owned by women in the Kingdom of Bahrain has increased in 2013 by 10.3% compared with 2012.The minister affirmed stressed the importance of the conference which confirms the status of women in business and trade sectors in Bahrain. A workshop titled "Women Entrepreneurship and Innovation" was then held. (Industry Ministry).
