
Industry and Commerce Minister Dr. Hassan Fakhro chaired the 20th main joint economic committee meeting between the Ministry and the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), in the presence of BCCI's Chairman Khalid Almoayed and a number of the committee's members from both sides.
The Minister expressed the government's constant follow up for all the economic projects, especially the ones aiming to provide welfare for the citizens, secure all supplies and achieve food security through local projects or those involving the local private sector with its international counterparts, expressing the government's appreciation for the private sector's initiatives and contributing to the economic and development issues in Bahrain.
The panel reviewed establishing a national joint-stock company in the field of livestock, following the directives of the parliamentary Inquiry Committee in the case of the meat, livestock, barns and the Minister affirmed that it also follows the Ministry's directions of encouraging the private sector of finding alternative sources of food production and diversify the import of livestock.
The panel reviewed the latest developments of Bahrain Export development Center, new Bahrain Expo City project, SME Toolkit and the Economic City.
The Minister underlined the importance of BCCI's joint business council and activating them in order to promote and enhance trade, economic and investment relations between Bahrain and friendly countries and raise the levels of bilateral trade exchange investment.
The Minister expressed the government's appreciation for BCCI's role, considering it the private sector's umbrella and Bahrain's investment interface.
BCCI Chairman valued the exerted efforts by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, led by the Minister, in providing the needs of the private sector and adopting its aspirations that would promote and serve the national economy.
