A delegation from China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) paid on Friday a visit to Alexandria harbor to inspect the site of the goods terminal agreed to be established here.
The Chinese delegation met with Head of Alexandria Port Authority Abdel Qader Darwish and senior officials at the port to discuss the operating system of the multipurpose terminal.
Darwish said that the terminal, which will be set up at quay No.55, includes quays at a length of 1,900 meters and at a depth of 14 meters and a 250,000 square-meter area for trading commodities.
The terminal, which will cost EGP 1,5 billion, would provide about 1,200 direct job opportunities and 5,000 indirect job openings and increase the economic growth as well as improving shipping services to attract more investments.
