
Qatar participated in the 95th session of the Economic and Social Council of the Arab League which started at the Arab League's Secretariat General in Cairo on February 15 -19.
Qatar's delegation to the meeting was led by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce Sultan bin Rashid Al Khater,. Discussions during the meeting focused on establishing the greater Arab free trade zone, developments of pan-Arab customs union ( the implementation , follow-up and the requirements) interms of liberalization of merchandise trade and liberalization of trade in services in the Arab countries, said the Ministry of Economy and Commerce in a statement today.
The participants also discussed investment in Arabic countries due to the implementation of the resolutions issued by the Council during previous meeting in Riyadh, the ratification of the unified agreement for the investment of Arab capital in the Arab States , urging Arab States which have not signed the agreement to approve .
They also discussed decisions relating to economic and social files prepared by the economic and social committees and meetings of senior Arab officials in addition to topics in the meeting agenda such as the report of the Arab League Secretary-General on the implementation of the decisions of 94th session , including Arab economic integration, environment, housing, water resources, sustainable development, information technology, energy, transport and tourism, Arab organizations and unions and Arabic economic relations and intellectual property.
