The economic reform program is in need of a parallel program for social protection for the most vulnerable members of Egyptian society, said International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr.
The ministry managed to lure funds, worth 15 million dollars, within a year, she said, adding that a big part of such funds are directed to infrastructure projects, which will contribute to increasing exports.
Attending a conference of the partnership of Egypt's future, which is organized by the US Chamber of Commerce in the presence of Senior Advisor to the Secretary of State David Thorne, Nasr pointed out to the current cooperation between Egypt and the US.
The House of Representatives approved the government's program, a matter which sends a message to the world that Egypt is capable of overcoming challenges, especially after the completion of the roadmap, she added.
The government is keen on holding cooperation with the private sector and the NGOs in implementing the program, she said.
Talking about attending the annual meetings of the World Bank, which was recently held in Washington, the minister said that she met with a host of officials at the World Bank, the UN and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
She also pointed out to the important role played by the private sector in developing economic indicators.
Cooperation is continuing with the US side, she said, pointing out to the support of the small and medium-sized projects by the US Agency for International Development in Upper Egypt.
