Egypt's Cabinet on Tuesday denied remarks by head of the Central Committee of Egyptian Scientists Council Emad Mehana that salaries of ministers reach 3 million pounds per month.
"These statements are false and unfounded," Cabinet Spokesman Ambassador Hossam Qawish said in a statement.
"The government is committed to the maximum wage limit, which does not exceed 42,000 pounds per month," he said.
He added that the government abides by the principle of equal opportunities and achieving fair distribution of development revenues.
The total salary of a minister from his ministry and the Cabinet does not exceed 32,000 pounds per month, he pointed out.
