
The operations room of the Egyptian Cabinet is following up developments regarding an oil spill that occurred from an electricity station in the Nile of Assiut.
A committee of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency, water bodies, police and the Holding Company for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage was formed to follow up the situation.
Also, a team of the Environment Ministry arrived at the scene to inspect the leak, the Cabinet said in a statement earlier in the day.
The governorates of Minya, Beni Sweif, Giza and Cairo have been informed to take precautionary measures and make sure that the drinking water is not affected by the spill.
