
Minister of Petroleum Sherif Ismail met on Tuesday with Cypriot Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Georgios Lakkotrypis in Nicosia.
The meeting took up ways of boosting bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, a statement by Egypt's petroleum ministry reads.
The two ministers expressed satisfaction over the level of cooperation between the two countries, added the statement.
The two ministers agreed to speed up talks on importing Cypriot natural gas to Egypt, it added.
According to the statement the ministers added that mutual cooperation should contribute to establishing peace and stability in the region.
Ismail arrived in Cyprus on Monday for cooperation talks.
