
Minister of Transport Hani Dahi met on Tuesday with the Russian economic and trade attache and representatives of the Russian companies operating in the fields of manufacturing and exporting railway and metro trains.
In statements following the meeting, Dahi said the Ministry is keen on upgrading the transportation system in Egypt drawing on the Russian expertise in this field.
He also said the Russian companies reviewed fields of cooperation between the two countries, especially providing the Egyptian Railway Authority with new locomotives and carriages.
The Russian companies voiced readiness to finance the new railway projects as well as the construction of the 5th and 6th metro lines.
The two sides agreed on forming a joint team to outline a timetable for activating such projects and upgrading the infrastructure of Egypt's railway network.
