
Emirates Post Group celebrated the World Post Day through a programme that included felicitating the participants of the International Letterwriting Competition from U.A.E. schools.
World Post Day is celebrated to mark the founding of the Universal Postal Union 140 years ago.
Ibrahim Bin Karam, Chief Commercial Officer, Emirates Post Group, said: "Emirates Post Group continues the march of modernization and development by strengthening the U.A.E.'s position as a regional hub for postal services and logistics through next-generation of postal services, which include the recent package of new online services or mobile applications He added, "The 140-year-old UPU has played a key role in the development and modernisation of postal services in the world, and established international regulations for member countries to ensure free movement of mail and enhance economic and cultural exchange at the global level. Emirates Post Group joined the international letter writing competition for youth conducted by Universal Postal Union. The 43rd competition was themed on ‘How music affects people's lives.’" Bin Karam expressed his appreciation of the efforts of the organising committee led by Shaikha Al Ameri and thanked the volunteers from U.A.E. Lights, for supporting the celebrations.
Top ten letters in the national level competition in Arabic language and three in English were awarded cash prizes and certificates.
U.A.E. musician Mohammed Murshid spoke about his music in connection with the theme of this year’s competition. Euphrates Music Centre participated in the event, and a young student, Lama Ibrahim, played a solo on the zither.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Ibrahim Bin Karam, along with Sultan Al Midfa, CEO for Postal Operations Affairs, presented certificates and mementos to the shortlisted entries at the U.A.E. level. These letters were sent for the international leg, where the UPU selected top three winners globally.
