A relief aid convoy of 18 trucks carrying tens of thousands of food parcels, hygiene kits, clothes, blankets, baby milk formula and vitamins and even wheelchairs from Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) arrived in Gaza Strip to help Palestinian Gazans displaced by the recent violence.
Secretary-General of ERC, Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, said the convoy, led by Humaid Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of ERC for International Aid, is the sixth in a series of aid convoys sent to Gaza on directives from the U.A.E. leaders to help Palestinians overcome the current crisis resulting from the painful events.
He noted that ERC's latest aid will support Palestinian hospitals facing shortage of wheelchairs.
The U.A.E. aid agency will deliver its latest batch of aid for Gaza to its own warehouses in Gaza and to Palestine Red Crescent Society, Al Falahi noted.
ERC's sixth delegation also toured the U.A.E. field hospital in Gaza Strip where it provides free medical treatment for patients and the injured.
On Friday, ERC distributed 1,200 relief parcels and 200 gallons of drinking water to refugees in Gaza.
The U.A.E.'s Red Crescent has already delivered tens of thousands of food parcels, clothes and blankets to refugees taking shelter at schools run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in Gaza.
