The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has dispatched a 13-truck aid convoy to the Gaza Strip, packed with medicines and food supplies, to help those affected by the snowstorm in the Levant and Iraq, including the Palestinian territories.
Dr. Mohammed Atiq Al Falahi, ERC Secretary-General, said that the latest aid efforts are in response to the Tarahamu campaign, launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with the follow-up of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, to provide winter assistance to refugees in the affected areas.
Dr. Al Falahi said that in the last two weeks, and during the first phase of the relief campaign, the ERC had distributed winter aid supplies to more than 500 Palestinian families in the eastern side of Gaza City, which included electric heaters, blankets and food. The Secretary-General added that the organisation will continue providing humanitarian aid efforts in the region.
