Remittances of Egyptian expats reached some 20 billion dollars in 2014, a report by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said Monday.
This is one of the positive effects of immigration, said CAPMAS chairman Abu Bakr el Gendy, noting that expat remittances were four times as much as revenues from the Suez Canal, which stand at five billion dollars.
Gendy was speaking in a conference to announce the results of a national survey on international immigration organized under the auspices of Planning Minister Ashraf el Araby.
