
Industrial exports from Zarqa and Mfraq governorates stabilized at 9% during the first ten months of 2014, reaching $718 million.
Further, Zarqa Chamber of Industry’s (ZCI) Haidar Amaireh told Petra on Saturday that the number of certificates of origin issued by the chamber reached 11,423.
Amaireh said exports from ZCI members during October amounted to $55 million, 8 percent fewer than during the same period last year.
Leather products and embroideries led with exports valued at $380 million, an increase of 8 percent over the same period last year, he explained.
Food supplies, agriculture and animal industries placed second at $96 million, 6 percent lower than the same period last year. In third place were plastic and rubber industries, with $74 million, a decrease of 3 percent, and in fourth place were chemical and cosmetic products, at $55 million, an increase of 24 percent. This was followed by engineering, electrical and IT products, at $54 million, an increase of 34 percent.
Amaireh indicated that shipments to North America represented 50.3 % of total exports, valued at $360 million, which was an increase of 8 percent, compared with the same period in 2013.
Exports to Arab states represented 34% of total exports, which stood at $272 million, 2 percent less than the same period last year, Amaireh added.
