The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) hailed efforts by the Egyptian government to support and promote agricultural activities in villages.
The agriculture sector in Egypt is one of the main pillars for comprehensive development in the country, the organization said in a statement on Friday on the occasion of Egypt Economic Development Conference, which kicks off today in Sharm El Sheikh.
It pointed out to a meeting held between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva during the president’s visit to Rome in November.
FAO will offer technical assistance to the government to carry out its planned “one-million feddan” reclamation project as part of the organization’s support for sustainable development fields.
FAO is taking part in the Egyptian economic event with a delegation led by regional representative for the Near East and North Africa Abdel Salam Ould Ahmed.
