The Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry's Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources Shaikh Khalifa bin Isa Al Khalifa has received a number of Bahraini farmers, as part of the on-going preparations for the third edition of the Farmers' Market, due to kick-start on December 6.
The Undersecretary reviewed with the farmers the problems facing them, including expatriate workers and incubators.
He affirmed that farmers would receive the necessary support in order to enable them to increase their farm's productivity, and income.
He pointed out that the ministry is cooperating with French and Dutch companies to provide highly productive seeds to enhance vegetable products in the kingdom.
He said the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Area (ICARDA) would focus its attention on organic farming by adopting soilless farming systems.
On Tamkeen's support to farmers, he said a committee had been formed to study the issue after Eid Al-Adha.
