The Finance Ministry has allocated EGP 1.5 million to immediately compensate the victims of the sunken Warraq boat.
The ministry will pay special damages of EGP 60,000 over each deceased person and EGP 10,000 for the injured in the boat crash, Minister Hany Qadry said.
The compensation will be paid jointly by the Finance and Social Solidarity Ministries and Giza governorate, he said.
The measures were taken in the aftermath of the tragedy when at least 40 persons were killed after a boat traveling down the Nile near Al Warraq, Giza, collided with a barge on July 22.
