Egypt is taking part in the 34th COMESA Policy Organs meetings and the 18th Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Summit of Heads of State and Government which started on March 18 and will run until March 31.
Proceedings of a number of COMESA's bodies have already started, including the meetings of the Committee on Peace and Security, which were held on March 18-19, and the meetings of the Management Committee, which took place on March 20-21, said the Foreign Ministry on Monday.
The summit is expected to discuss peace and security in the sub-region and seek solutions to the challenges as well as address key issues of negotiations on the economic partnership agreement with Europe Union (EU).
The summit will also discuss last year’s achievements and progress made by COMESA and look into the implementation status of the various relevant COMESA agreements.
