Head of the Free Egyptians Party Naguib Sawiris has said that direct financial aid for the poor is more effective than the subsidies system.
He said his party fully backs the termination of subsidies and turning them to direct cash support to improve the lives of the poor.
Speaking at a conference organized by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in Lebanon, he said that financial aid programs succeeded in other countries like Brazil.
He added that the subsidy system could lead to injustice as it also covers rich people.
Sawiris said his party also backs the minimum wage policy but not the maximum one as it would lead to a brain drain.
The Egyptian politician said that unemployment provides a favorable environment for terrorism.
