
Vice Chancellor of Germany and Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel praised Tuesday the decisions taken by the Qatari government to improve labor conditions in the country.
The German Minister was speaking during the Small and Medium Enterprises Conference said that he had to be fair and recognize the Qatari government's efforts in that regard. He added that the world's attention was directed towards Qatar as they prepare to participate in World Cup 2022.
The minister also expressed his delight of Qatar's support to the international coalition fighting ISIS in Iraq. He added that in addition to staying clear of such groups, Qatar took an active role in condemning terrorism.
Gabriel then highlighted the strong cooperation between Germany and the State of Qatar in facing the challenges in the region. He added that the visit of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani last September opened up more scope for bilateral cooperation. furthermore, the German minister said the increase of trade volume by 67% to reach 2.1 billion Euro is a reflection of the strong cooperation. He added that Qatar was looking to enhance its position as the biggest exporter of LNG in the world. While Germany on the other hand is looking to help Qatar in some of its projects related to World Cup 2022.
