Alexandria Governor Tareq Mahdi Friday opened a "Thalatheen" market in Sidi Bishr neighborhood to accommodate street vendors.
This comes as part of a plan to overcome the problem of street vendors and remove encroachments on streets and squares of Alexandria.
The inauguration was attended by head of Montazah municipality Fawzi el-Marasi and a number of security leaders in the Mediterranean city.
The market includes 650 booths for vendors to sell all types of goods, foodstuffs, vegetables and fruit.
It has a parking lot and vehicles for moving goods into the market, lampposts and toilets for visitors.
