Iran is to supply Lebanon, Syria and Iraq with electricity, an economic protocol of understanding has been initialed to this effect between all 4 countries in Tehran yesterday. The breaking news was carried in dispatch by the Iranian official newspaper IRNA with senior Iranian Energy ministry official Muhammad Bahzad, Iraqi Electricity official Adel Mahdi, Syrian counterpart Hisham Mushaffaj and Lebanese electricity official Najeeb Saleh putting their initials to the protocol. Iranian official Bahzad, reported that the Iraqis would get 1000 megawatts while the Syrian and Lebanese share stands between 1200-1300 megawatts. Bahzad anticipated power-supply to all 3 countries within a couple of months pending protocol -ratification by all 4 nations.
