The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Azzam Sleit, discussed on Wednesday a number of strategic issues with the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of the telecommunication companies working in Jordan.
The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners and the Chief Executive Officer of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) also attended the deliberations, which brought together Zain Jordan CEO Ahmad Hanandeh, Umniah's CEO Ehab Henawi and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Orange, Raslan Deiranieh.
During the meeting, the minister affirmed the partnership between the government, represented by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, the TRC and the private sector companies.
He also said that the ministry is keen to assure that investments in the telecommunications sector turn out to be successful since this is considered one of the most important economic sectors in the Kingdom. Moreover, this is one of the top job generating sectors.
Sleit called on the CEOs to focus on the quality of services provided to citizens and take advantage of modern technology, thus increasing the sector's revenues.
"The Ministry and the TRC are supporting the telecommunications sector and will discuss the companies' demands with a positive attitude, in order to serve the interests of the Kingdom as well as those of stakeholders," Sleit said.
The CEOs, on their part, said they were keen to discuss various issues related to the sector, expressing their readiness to cooperate with the ministry and support joint projects to better serve the sector.
