The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) has raised USD 2.25 million in cash donations, and USD 270,000 in material donations, for the Syrian refugees, in a four-day campaign, Chairman Hilal Al-Sayer has said.
In an exclusive statement to KUNA on Saturday, Al-Sayer lauded efforts for the campaign thanking people for their donations. He stressed that the door is always open for more.
The campaign ended on Thursday, yet several people visited the KRCS headquarters on Friday offering more donations, he said. The campaign is part of solidarity with the Syrian refugees aiming to alleviate their sufferings.
According to Al-Sayer, the KRCS is working on several trucks that will carry winter items, heavy clothes, blankets and heaters, for the refugees in Syria's neighboring countries.
He said the KRCS field teams had already started distributing relief aid on refugees in Lebanon and Jordan, amid the freezing weather sweeping the region.
