
Under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait's Anti-Corruption Public Authority will host a function and a series of a activities to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day on Tuesday.
In a press statement issued Sunday, the Authority said that the function would be attended by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as a representative to His Highness the Amir.
The inaugural speech would be delivered by the Authority Chairman Abdulrahman Al-Namash and would focus on the vision and mission of the body which is expected to start operation early 2015.
The UN representative Bader Albanna will deliver a speech about the UN role in combatting corruption worldwide.
On the sidelines of the main event, two seminars would be held on the latest financial and auditing approaches and tools in fighting corruption and protecting public money.
The International Anti-Corruption Day has been observed annually, on 9 December, since the passage of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) on 31 October 2003.
Kuwait signed the UNCAC in December 2003, to be one of the leading signatory countries.
The UNCAC is the first global legally binding international anti-corruption instrument. It requires that States Parties implement several to prevent corruption, criminalize certain conducts, strengthen international law enforcement and judicial cooperation, providing effective legal mechanisms for asset recovery, technical assistance and information exchange, and mechanisms for implementation of the Convention.
