Director of The Public Authority for Applied Education and Training Dr. Ahmad Al-Atheri emphasized in a press conference on Thursday the importance of workplace safety.
He said the Authority will be hosting a conference next March on workplace safety in the industrial sector, noting that productivity increased with more safety on the job and urging all public and private sector employers to provide maximum safety for their workers.
The upcoming conference on safety is scheduled to discuss a number of work papers on industrial safety with special reference to the oil industry, said chief of the organizing committee of the conference Dr. Jamal Al-Saeedi, in remarks at the press conference today.
In a similar statement, Municipality member Dr. Hassan Kamal who will attend the March conference said it was incumbent on legislators to come up with effective laws protecting workers at their places of employment.
Concomitant with the conference in March of next year will be a number of workshops to which experts in workplace safety will be invited to participate, said the March conference coordinator Dr. Maha Akeel, who said private sector companies well versed in workplace safety will also be invited to the conference in addition to a number of government ministries and agencies, such as Kuwait University, KOC, KNPC, KAC, EPA, and the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training.
The conference will start on March 16, 2015 to March 19,2015.
