
Two Kuwaiti officials here on Tuesday stressed the importance of the role of trade exhibitions held by the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in strengthening and developing trade cooperation among the OIC member states.
In a statement to KUNA on the sidelines of the 5th OIC World Biz and Muslim World BIZ Exhibition and Conference 2014, Wesam Jomaa, a senior official of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, said that such exhibitions create chances to promote Kuwaiti products and new trade opportunities.
"Kuwaiti pavilion includes 14 national industrial companies that offer products of food, drinks, textiles, cleaning and sanitary ware," Jomaa said, adding the pavilion is attracted by visitors.
"Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry is participating in the event to show Kuwaiti role and its trade activities," she added.
For his part, Ahmad Al-Zayed, another senior at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, said that Kuwait aims at targeting a large number of businessmen from Malaysia as well as from other Islamic countries.
"The participating companies are active in cement, plastics, aluminum and food industries as well as textiles manufacturing," he added.
The event, which runs until November 14, was opened earlier in the day with participation of more than 500 representatives of local and international organizations form more than 35 Islamic countries.
