The Social Reform Society, an affiliate of the Kuwaiti Mercy International Association, has offered relief aid to victims of the heavy rain and floods that hit wide parts of the Sudan, causing enormous losses. The aid has been coordinated with the Sudanese Care and Reform Society.
Aid convoys include shelter supplies, 6,000 tarpaulin sheets and 1,500 Moustiquaire , the Sudanese society secretary general Azhari Abdulkader told KUNA on Saturday. He added that the convoys covered the most affected states, Khartoum River Nile and Kasla. More convoys will follow with shelter and food supplies.
Abdulkader expressed appreciation to the Kuwaiti Social Reform Society, for the speed response to help victims of floods in the country. Most Sudanese states have been hit by floods caused by heavy rain in the monsoon season that runs as far as October.
The Sudanese authorities said that the floods killed 77 people, injured dozens and damaged up to 7,000 houses. They swept wide areas of cultivated land.
