
Luxembourg's Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna said his country and Qatar have deep ties marked by their endeavors to diversify local economy, open markets to foreign and local investment and make their country a leading world destination on all fronts.
Speaking during a seminar organized by Luxembourg For Finance agency in association with Qatar Financial Center, Gramegna said the visit of a Luxembourg delegation to Doha aims to enhance cooperation ties between the two countries in global funding and establishes the proper foundations to identify potential investment opportunities as well as paves the way for exchanging mutual expertise.
He expressed his pleasure at meeting business leaders and financial experts during his visit to Doha, noting that his country has worked to establish strong ties with Qatar, which benefited the two sides.
He voiced hope that cooperation between Qatar and Luxembourg will result in increasing future job opportunities and exchanging knowledge and expertise in regular and Islamic financing, with Luxembourg now the biggest center of Islamic finance investments in Europe and the third globally behind Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. Over 100 Islamic investment funds were established in Luxembourg.
The minister expressed keenness on further cooperation with the Qatari side thanks to the Qatari market's success in financial investment, pointing to the mutual interest of the two countries in diversifying economy and incomes in the sectors of financial services, transport logistics and information technology.
