Suez Canal Authority Chairman Mohab Mamish stressed on Wednesday the importance of the Canal's role in the battle of development and prosperity the Egyptian government has been launching to improve the country's economy.
Receiving members of the 49th batch of diplomatic attachés under minister plenipotentiary Ahmed Mostafa, the deputy head of the Diplomatic Studies Institute, Mamish said the canal plays a key role in bringing hard currencies to the country's economy.
He pointed out that the canal deals with world countries without discrimination and allows ships to transit except in three cases, ie those carrying narcotics or contributing to the slave trade or ships from countries hostile to Egypt.
