
The Panamanian ships were the canal's top clients within the first 11 months in 2015, with a total of 2,177 vessels and about 132.631 million tons of cargo passing through the canal, according to statistics released by the Suez Canal Authority.
Though Panama tops the client list, the results were lower than the numbers in the same period in the previous year, at 7.3 percent lower in the number of vessels and approximately 1.6 percent less in the tonnage of cargo transported.
Liberian ships came in second after the Panamanians, with a total of 2,080 vessels and 113.781 million tons of cargo, followed by Marshall Islands-flagged ship with a cargo of 111.627 million tons.
