Supply Minister Khaled Henfi stressed on Sunday that all paper ration cards will turn into smart ones within 15 days as part of the ministry's efforts to secure faster and better services to citizens.
The minister, in a statement, urged all citizens to immediately head for supply offices to present necessary documents to get the new cards.
Citizens are required to submit their old ration cards, a copy of their ID, the IDs of the children registered in the ration cards or their birth certificates and receipt of power consumption, the statement said.
Smart cards will be handed over to citizens at the supply offices while the passwords will be received via post offices.
The paper ration cards will be invalid as of December.
