Minister of Public Works, Abdelkader Kadi, said Thursday in Algiers that the project meant to develop the new commercial port of Algiers is "still under study," adding that this study will "determine soon" its location.
Kadi, who was speaking at a plenary session of the People's National Assembly (Lower House of Parliament) devoted to oral questions, said that his ministry and that of Transport are "carrying out careful studies to soon determine the suitable place for the new international port."
The specialized studies for the construction of a large commercial port on the Algerian coast began in 2011 between the West of Algiers and the eastern city of Ténès (Chlef).
As for the development of the commercial port of Dellys (East of Boumerdes), which witnesses, according to MP Abdelaziz Mansour, "a decline in activity over the years," the minister announced that the study on the extension works was included in the 2014 supplementary program.
