
Marking the 50th anniversary of the Arab Labour Organisation (ALO), Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Labour and Chairman of the ALO, has stressed the urgency to address labour market challenges and meet expectations, especially in light of the current unstable events in the Middle East.
"We’re very keen on completing the organisation’s agenda in dealing with labour related issues and finding a balanced relationship among the three production parties to maintain common interests," Ghobash said.
This came during the ALO Board of Directors meeting held on Monday in Abu Dhabi and presided over by Ghobash, alongside Ahmed Luqman, ALO Director-General, as well as Vice President for Business Owners Affairs, Ziad Homsi, Hassan Faqih ,Vice President for Labourers Affairs at the ILO, and Haider Abshr Al Tahir, ALO Assistant Director-General, Mubarak Al Dhaheri, Under-Secretary of Ministry of Labor, Humaid bin Deemas Al Suwaidi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Labour Affairs and Islam Sana legal adviser to the organisation.
The participants discussed the celebration of organisation’s golden jubilee, which coincides with the 42nd Conference scheduled to be held in Kuwait in April.
Luqman proposed special arrangements to celebrate the ALO's 50th anniversary, as he clearly emphasised on the organisation’s appreciated position, especially as it runs high-end dialogues according to the principles and values the organisation hold.
The ALO Board of Directors underlined Luqman’s key role in carrying out such noble responsibilities over the past years, citing the achievements the ALO in various fields.
