The Egyptian-Saudi Businessmen Association is mulling participation in the reclamation of four million feddans in Egypt.
This came in a meeting between a delegation of the association and Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Hossam Moghazi. The delegation included deputy chairman of the association Sultan Dawish, CEO of the Egyptian American Company Abdel Rahman Ukail, Dar el-Maali company board chairman Mohamed Ukail and CEO of Salheen Company Dr Mohamed Saleh.
The reclamation project was announced earlier by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi at a cost put up at 10 billion pounds.
Ahmed Darwish, member of the association, said the meeting tackled the participation of the Egyptian and Saudi private sectors in the project.
"We can start by 300 feddans at first," he said adding that consultations are under way to agree on an appropriate mechanism of cooperation in this project.
Egypt has promised to provide necessary infrastructure for the project.
