
Prime minister, Abdelmalek Sellal inaugurated Monday at the industrial zone of Arzew in the eastern region of Oran, “Sorfert-Algérié” plant for the manufacturing of fertilizer, ammonia and urea.
After being provided with explanations on the operation of this plant, Sellal stressed that authorities encourage this kind of projects.”
“Our main goal consists in transforming gas and oil to ensure an added value,” the Premier stated.
“We remain ready to provide you with all means if you have any new product demanded on the national market,” Sellal told interlocutors.
Built on an area of 37 hectares, “Sofert-Algérie” plant is part of the partnership between Sonatrach holding and “ORASCOM” Industry and Construction Company, based on 51/49 rule, according to the data sheet of the complex.
The process of manufacturing these two products adopts sophisticated techniques in the treatment of water and natural gas.
This plant meets the needs of the domestic market in urea up to 124,136 metric tons, according to the data sheet.
