The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority is taking part in the forthcoming GIBTM 2013 (Gulf Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition), to be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre between March 25 -27, as one of the biggest business, travel and incentive event in the region.Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Director General of the Authority, stressed the importance of Sharjah's presence at the GIBTM, an exhibition focussing on the extensive growth witnessed by the Incentives, business Travel and Meetings Tourism sector, positively affecting the countries' economy.Adding that several leading Meeting and Conference centers are exhibiting at ADNEC, making the exhibition an opportunity for Sharjah to benefit greatly from the participation and reinforce its leading position as a global destination on various levels.Al Midfa explained the Business Travel sector is booming thanks to the investments made in the sector, affirming Sharjah's commitment to infrastructure development and investment, seen in sophisticated transport networks, top-of-the-line hotels, conference and exhibition centers and shopping malls, all placing it at the top of the leading destinations for Business Travel and Exhibition organization in the region.He also noted that the founding of Sharjah Expo Center in 1977 which was the only facility of its kind in the region at the time hosting international exhibitions and conferences attracting and providing a platform to thousands of local and regional industries and investors throughout the year. Facilities like this make Sharjah an ideal business tourism destination for the whole region.SCTDA director general said Sharjah is looking forward to showcasing the best of the emirate's amenities, facilities and incentives provided in the business tourism sector and bolster its position as a leading destination in this niche tourism sector.GIBTM Abu Dhabi exhibition, in its seventh year, attracts more than 2,400 participants and 300 exhibitors from 36 countries including business tourism destinations, industry leaders and investors who come together to exchange ideas and experiences and explore opportunities and trends in the business tourism sector.
