President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Friday inspected a number of development and rehabilitation projects at civilian and military joint-use airports in order to increase the overall capacity of the Egyptian civilian airports.
During his inspection tour, the president stressed the importance of facilitating the movement of civil aviation to serve the new administrative capital and adjacent areas of Cairo, which is witnessing a new urban and development renaissance.
He also met with workers at public and private companies, which are contributing to those projects. Sisi praised efforts exerted by the companies which helped significantly reduce the total cost of the projects.
Sisi stressed the importance of completing the projects on time so as to be inaugurated in August in conjunction with Egypt's celebrations that will mark the opening of the New Suez Canal. This will also pave the way for operating the airports in September and October 2015, according to schedule.
He also praised the Armed Forces' efforts to achieve comprehensive development in the civil sector in cooperation with civilian companies operating in the fields of construction and establishing roads.
The president also met with a group of army pilots and praised their combat skills.
Sisi then witnessed the bombing of rock layers to establish a road in Galala plateau and inspected the ongoing work to convert the plateau into a tourist attraction, link it to the shores of the Red Sea, and establish a medical city and a university bearing the name of late Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz.
The tour also included inspecting the new road network which will contribute to creating one million jobs and aims to link the Suez Canal with many Egyptian cities.
