Work is in full swing to open the Sitra walkway within the next few months. Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Dr. Jumaa bin Ahmed Al-Kaabi today visited the site of the project and inspected the progress of work on the scheme.
The minister, who was accompanied by ministry officials and the contractor in charge of the project, stressed the need to fast-track work for the walkway to be completed within the next few months.
In a statement today, he affirmed the ministry’s firm resolve to muster all resources to support the municipal councils and provide premium services for citizens and residents, in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa.
"The old causeway embankment will be transformed into a leisure zone by the end of this year, featuring a two-kilometre walkway and green spaces", he said, pointing out that access to the area would be made through Nabeeh Saleh traffic lights.
