Minister of Commerce, Amara Benyounes, called Thursday for speeding up the construction of the National Testing Laboratory, which mission is controling the industrial products in the months to come.
While inspecting the progress rate of this project, Benyounes wondered on the reasons of the delay in the laboratory’s construction, despite the important amounts allocated for this project.
He also urged for solutions to the problems between the engineering firm and the company responsible for the laboratory construction.
"We need to find solutions to these problems because the laws are clear," he insisted.
Benyounes also insisted on the delivery of this facility, the first of its kind in Algeria, as part of the coming months to better protect consumers and the national economy especially as Algeria is preparing to join the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The national testing laboratory, located in the town of Sidi Abdallah in Zeralda (Algiers), will include specialized annexes in physicochemical and microbiological analyzes to control the conformity of industrial products.
