SQU-PDO Technical Souq, a poster presentation and discussion session, was jointly organised at SQU and Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). The function was organised under the patronage of Prof. Amer bin Ali Al Rawas, SQU deputy vice-chancellor for postgraduate studies and research. Researchers from SQU presented posters about the ongoing and completed projects in the fields of oil exploration, recovery, and communication and engineers from PDO come up with posters introducing technical problems faced in oil exploration. The idea behind organising SQU-PDO Technical Souq is to explore the possibilities of undertaking consultative research projects in these areas with funding from PDO. This year, the two organisations came up with 22 posters pertaining to different areas in oil and gas industry such as oil recovery, water management in oil fields, reservoir geophysics, beam pump challenges, and gas lift management. Prof. Amer Al Rawas said that the event reflected the innovations in the field of oil exploration and recovery and expressed satisfaction over the long-standing partnership between SQU and PDO. He called upon the researchers at the university to take advantage of this exhibition and identify what types of projects PDO is looking for, and thus take the initiative to work out research proposals to obtain funding from PDO that could lead to finding solutions to the technical challenges in the oil and gas sector. "It is an opportunity for scientists and researchers from both institutions to interact in person and to update their knowledge," he added. Time Of Oman
