Sudan's monthly inflation rate jumped to 40.3 percent in October, 2013, according to a report by Sudan's Central Bureau of Statistics on Saturday. "Sudan's monthly inflation rate jumped to 40.3 percent in October compared to 29.4 percent in September, the report said. The report attributed the inflation rise to the hike in the prices of all consumption commodities last month. In September the Sudanese government announced an increase in the fuel prices as part of a package of economic reforms aiming at reviving the country's economy. And those measures prompted protests in many Sudanese cities. The Sudanese economy has been suffering from difficulties as a result of the separation with South Sudan, which caused the country to lose three quarters of its oil wealth.
