Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Dr. Khodr Orfali said the industrial sector is key to the development process and a main prop of national economy.
Orfali, whose comments came during an extensive meeting held on Sunday in Adra industrial city, underscored the significance of industrial cities in enabling national products to gain a foothold in foreign markets, apart from their role in localizing industries and attracting foreign investments.
The minister said the ministry is ready to iron out difficulties hindering the work of industrialists in industrial cities.
The industrialists demanded, during the meeting, that importation permits be granted, given the difficulty of procuring raw materials.
They also stressed the necessity of establishing communications with markets in Russia, Iran, India, China and BRICS countries for ensuring a customs-free entry of Syrian products there.
