
Tunisia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew 1% in the first quarter of 2016, compared with the same period of 2015 and 1.4% compared with Q4 2015, said Hedi Saidi, Director-General of the National Statistics Institute (INS).
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, the official said the sector of manufacturing industries went up 1.4% in Q1 compared with the same period of 2015 and 3.3% compared with Q4 2015, according to the Tunisian news agency (TAP).
Data indicated a positive growth in the chemical industry by 28.6 %, and in building materials, ceramics and crystal by 4.2% as well as mechanical and electrical industries by 1.7%.
