
Industrial production in Japan edged up 0.1% in October from the previous month for the third straight month of increases, the Japan's government said Wednesday.
The figure, which was in line with a forecast by analysts surveyed by the Nikkei business daily, followed a 0.6% increase in September. "Industrial production shows signs of increase at a moderate pace," the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said in a statement.
Manufacturers expect industrial output to jump 4.5% in November and fall 0.6% in December, a survey conducted by the ministry showed. The index of industrial shipments rose 2.2% to 98.5 in October from the previous month, and that of industrial inventories declined 2.1% to 108.6, the ministry said
